About the University of Malaya
The University of Malaya (UM), located in southwest Kuala Lumpur, is the oldest in Malaysia, founded in 1905 in Singapore as the King Edward VII Medical College. In 1949, it became the University of Malaya as a result of the merger of the Faculty of Medicine with Raffles College.
With the rapid growth of the university, two independent departments were established in 1959, one in Singapore and the other in Kuala Lumpur. But in 1962, the National University of Malaya was established.

How to apply to the University of Malaya?
Applications for international students must be submitted online through the application portal.

General Entry Requirements
For undergraduate programs
National Higher School Certificate, or Level equivalent with grade 80% and above.
OR

Master's Degree
applicants must have a completed and recognized Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, and a good cumulative grade point average (CGPA).
Doctoral Degree
Master’s Degree or its equivalent in the field of study.
Applicants having a Bachelor’s Degree with a CGPA of 3.7 and above can apply directly for the PhD.
