Turkish universities among the best in Europe 2023

The QS ranking for the best 200 universities in Europe for 2024 has been released, which included Turkish universities such as METU (Middle East Technical University), ITU (Istanbul Technical University), Koç University, and Bilkent University. The evaluation was released by the Higher Education Ranking Agency (QS).

688 universities in 42 European countries were evaluated, using criteria such as academic reputation, student-to-faculty ratio, number of articles, and number of international students to determine the ranking.

Turkey participated in the evaluation with 72 universities, making it the second country represented by the largest number of universities after England.

Ranking of Turkish universities in QS ranking:

5 Turkish universities ranked high among the best 200 universities in Europe,including:

• Middle East Technical University ranked 124th.

• Istanbul Technical University ranked 132nd.

• Koç University ranked 174th.

• Bilkent University ranked 178th.

• Boğaziçi University ranked 199th.

The ranking also included other Turkish universities among the top 500 European universities, such as:

• Sabancı University ranked 201st.

• Hacettepe University ranked 224th.

• Istanbul University ranked 228th.

• Istanbul Gelişim University ranked 432nd.

• Istanbul Bilgi University ranked 488th.

Global ranking of Turkish universities in 2023

Education in Turkey holds a high global ranking, as most countries recognize Turkish universities, whether private or government universities. Here are some numbers for Turkish universities in global rankings on Webometrics:

• Koç University: 793

• Bilkent University: 902

• Sabancı University: 1069

• Istanbul Bilgi University: 1417

• Bahçeşehir University: 1602
