About Izmir University of Economics 

The Izmir University of Economics, established by the “Izmir Chamber of Commerce Health and Education Foundation” in 2001, is an endowment university to be a source of pride for the city of Izmir, and it is the first foundation university in the Aegean region.

The university was officially established with 2 faculties, 5 schools, and 2 postgraduate schools. On July 1, 2001, it moved to its current campus in Palçova. The university began its educational journey with 288 students until it became one of the most important universities in Türkiye. The university continued its development and now includes 8 colleges, 2 schools, 3 vocational schools, and a graduate school. The university also obtained “institutional accreditation” from the Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) in Türkiye.

Students who study at different universities in other countries can apply to the Izmir University of Economics to study as visiting students for one or two semesters.

The student submits an educational certificate and a letter of intent that includes a list of the courses in which the student wishes to enroll.

Tuition fees must be paid based on local credit hours for the courses in which they are registered.

The exchange of international students at the Izmir University of Economics takes place within the framework of a bilateral agreement between the Izmir University of Economics and one of the partner universities (Both must be holders of a valid Erasmus Charter).

Exchange students are registered for courses in light of the conditions specified in the agreement. At the end of the study period, students are provided with an official record of all the courses they have enrolled in along with their ECTS grades and credits.

International students are required to be among the following statuses to apply at Izmir University of Economics:

• Foreign students

• Turkish citizens by birth, but renounced citizenship from the Ministry of Interior.

• Dual citizenship students who enrolled in high school before the 2022-2023 academic year.

• Turkish citizens who completed the last three years of secondary education in a foreign country except the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus before and after February 2013.

• Students residing in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus completed their secondary school certificate and obtained a GCE AL certificate.

• Students who registered at secondary schools in other countries between 2005 and 2010 and have or will obtain a GCE AL certificate
