3 Universities in Cyprus Open Admissions Without YKS for 2026
In an important update to admission pathways at universities in Northern Cyprus, three major universities have opened admission pathways for international students without requiring the YKS exam, subject to the admission requirements of each university. The universities include:
Final International University (FIU): recognized for its academic offerings in several fields, including engineering and tourism.
Girne American University (GAU): known for its diverse academic programs and credit-hour system.
Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU): one of the well-known universities in Northern Cyprus, offering advanced academic programs and facilities in medical, engineering, and other fields.

This Decision provides flexible academic pathways for students interested in studying in Northern Cyprus. The system aims to simplify admission procedures and provide internationally oriented educational alternatives for students seeking specialized programs in a university environment where both English and Turkish are widely used.
Admission requirements vary from one university to another and may also differ depending on the major, academic level, and student's nationality. Therefore, admission without YKS does not mean that the exam has been abolished for all applicants. Those interested in the specific admission requirements can refer to the guide on Admission Requirements to Study in Northern Cyprus for the requirements applicable to each program.
