Ranking of Turkish Universities Increases Globally
According to the QS World University Rankings for 2024, Turkish universities have achieved significant success, with more universities making it to the top 500 list from 1 to 3, and more making it to the top 1000 list from 8 to 10. In this ranking, Middle East Technical University ranked 336th, Istanbul Technical University ranked 404th, and Koç University ranked 431st.
The number of international publications on Turkey has also increased. According to Scopus data, Turkey has risen from 22nd in the world in scientific document production in 2002 to 17th place in 2022.
While the number of universities in the top 500 and top 1000 lists from Turkey has increased compared to last year, the scientific production ranking has risen from 22nd to 17th place in the past twenty years.
25 Turkish universities participated in the QS World University Rankings for 2024, with 2963 leading universities evaluated and ranked among 1503 universities.
Bilkent University ranks 502nd, Bogazici University ranks 514th, and Sabanci University ranks 526th, approaching their goal of making it to the top 500 list.
Istanbul University, Hacettepe University, Ankara University, Yildiz Technical University, and Kyrgyzstan-Turkey University have all made it into the top 1000 universities in the world.
