An amnesty is issued for foreign students whose residency in Türkiye is rejected

The Ministry of Interior in Turkey announced an amnesty for students whose residency has expired or been rejected, or who violate the legal rules regarding residency.

The announcement stipulated that foreign students should complete their studies again after it was suspended, for reasons related to residence permits, but after submitting their papers again.

Accordingly, foreign students - whose residency has expired or been rejected - must quickly go to the international students office at their universities to submit the necessary papers, as the submission of residency papers ends on January 31, 2024.

Conditions and papers necessary for students’ residence in Türkiye

To reside in Türkiye to study, several papers are required, the most important of which are:

• Study visa.

• Student data document (öğrenci bilgisi), which can be extracted from the university.

• A personal photo with a white background.

• health insurance.

• A copy of the passport, which must be valid for a long period.

• Book an appointment on the Turkish Immigration Department website, and photograph the appointment.

• The student must have university admission, without which he cannot obtain a student residence permit in Turkey.

• The student must have a photocopy of the housing contract, as he must know his residence address.
